Revisiting Watercolor

Watercoloring was one medium I really enjoyed way back in high.  I did a bit of it early in college and just stopped.  So the other day I figured I try it again (about 10 years later)...and even though I feel so rusty, I had a lot of fun!  Thought I do my first try on a tiny Ahsoka Tano drawing :)

From sketch to finish I would say this took about 2 hours.  I need more practice time!

Finding reasons...

I've realized that a motivation for me to draw is drawing for a purpose. Drawing for someone or something, as a gift or event gives me a deadline to get it done. I had this idea and thought it would make a decent gift for my super-duper talented boyfriend Le Tang for Valentine's Day. This time I had watercolor paper to draw on, but no watercolor paints to use! :P So I used markers yet again!

Gosh Darn Buns

Last week some co-workers organized the 4th Lucasfilm Animation Benefit Auction. All proceeds go to AEF/BCEF and this was my first time contributing something to an event! Although it was a short notice, the event turned out great with many talented artists contributing their art, totaling over 70 pieces! This my piece that I created using pen and markers (yeah, I'm old school like that :P)

I was surprised when my piece was one of the 6 items that made it to the live auction! That night the event made a total whopping of $5,020! Yay!

I didn't expect such a positive reaction/feedback for my work! This definitely gave me motivation to draw more! I had so much fun working on this piece and am looking forward to drawing more!

Long time, no see

I've been bad I know. It's been way too long since my last post. Hopefully the next post WON'T be for another 3 years....heh.

I drew this for a close friend of mine I met at work. Nicole, an amazing photographer, has 2 chunky--I mean fluffy cats that has these pink poosh bellies that remind me of utters. I wasn't able to do this in time for her birthday, so I made it her xmas gift. I originally wanted this to be inked and colored all in markers...but halfway in I realized I no longer had any grey markers. So I water colored most of it. Had I known I was going to watercolor this I would have used the appropriate paper, but its ok this time. :)

I had fun, and again, its been way too long...

Screen Printing Image #2

All righty here's my 2nd image for screen printing. I can't wait for this Saturday to come so I can burn it to the screen and start printing on paper! Yeap, its the same popsicle from my business card. What's hard was transforming the image to strictly just black and white...yet my "popsicle" is actually a chocolate-dipped ice-cream bar...on a stick...yum.

I'm not too happy with this image...but I'm sure later on in time I can make it look better. I decided to make it these colors instead of black and white, even though I will only print it on white using black ink (its the only color I have at the moment). I'm open to any suggestions...please :D

Screen Printing

Screen printing has been something I've wanted to learn for the longest--and I'm finally doing it! I honestly have no idea how it works or the process...but now I do! Right now it seems like a long process, but I'm sure once I do more of this again and again it wont seem too bad. I think the pay off is great! It's my other current fun class I'm taking :D

I couldn't decide what I wanted to do for my first image. Since I was asking Jared for some ideas, an angry squirrel came up to mind! Thanks Jared! :D I've already some prints (that ended being thrown out by someone the following week, boo), so I"m ready for my second image!

Mini-Portfolio

I know I should have posted some long ago, but I was never satisfied with my portfolio. My book doesn't give me justice! Why? Mostly because it's not my most recent work. So I decided to fake the funk and slap together images from here and there into backgrounds to a few of them to try and give them this "fresh" and "new" look. Hey, it's better than nothing. ;]

These are really pages out of my "mini-portfolio" that I will carry to Comic-Con with me in case anyone is intereseted in taking a look. They are all 4" x 6" photos that I will place in a photo album.
